Cop in Jamaica charged for policewoman’s murder

NEW handcuffs

KINGSTON, Jamaica, Friday June 3, 2016 – Hours before the expiration of a court-set deadline for him to either be released or be charged, a policeman learned that he will face the court for killing a fellow officer.

Constable Gladstone Williams was last night charged with the April 28th murder of 54-year-old Corporal Judith Williams.

The development came after several weeks of investigations into the shooting. The policeman had been taken in custody, along with a civilian, since May.

And earlier this week, Senior Judge Judith Pusey ruled that police should either charge him today, or set him free.

Corporal Williams, who was attached to the office of the Commissioner of Police, was attacked around 6:30 a.m. by two gunmen, at a bus stop in East Kingston.

They shot her multiple times before fleeing the scene on a motorcycle.
