Diamond Clash – Women’s 400m
It’s experience versus youth in this one with Jamaican veteran, Novlene Williams-Mills, going up against hotshot Bahamian Shaunae Miller in the 400m in Shanghai.
The last time she competed in China, Miller won silver in this event at the World Championships, in Beijing, nearly a year ago.
It was the high point of a young career that has continued to grow tremendously since her days as a youth athlete.
Still, it seems we are just at the beginning of what will be an explosive career for Miller.
She will have to navigate a top field here with a number of threatening Jamaicans lined up beside her. Chief among them will be Williams-Mills, who, despite her long and fruitful career, has typically struggled against Miller, with her 2014 Commonwealth Games finish ahead of the Bahamian being the only time in six starts she has managed to beat her.
