ELEUTHERA, Bahamas – The US Coast Guard has suspended the search for an American man who went missing while kayaking off the Bahamian island of Eleuthera on Tuesday.

The 64-year-old man from Massachusetts, who was on vacation with his family, went kayaking in waters off The Current around 7 p.m.

He was reported missing by his son-in-law after not returning from a kayaking trip Tuesday evening.

The Coast Guard and the Royal Bahamas Defence Force said the man’s kayak and life jacket were found but there was no sign of him. The effort to find him was called off after a full day of searching yesterday.

The man’s name has not been released.
