Edwin ready for big run
Edwin Allen High’s girls are ready to run fast at next week’s Penn Relays in the United States.
Last Saturday the sprint relay quartet of Kasheika Cameron, Shellece Clark, Tashoy Blake and Patrice Moody produced the year’s fastest time by a high school this season, 44.41 seconds, to win at the MVP track meet inside the National Stadium and will start favourites to make it three wins in a row at the Penn Relays after victories in 2014 and 2015.
They humbled main rivals Holmwood Technical (45.11) and St. Jago (45.31) who were second and third respectively.
St. Jago will be hoping to run faster with the inclusion of Carifta Games Under 18 100m champion Kimone Shaw at the Penn Relays but Edwin Allen’s coach Michael Dyke still expects his team to win.
“I am very surprised that our team ran that fast as we have one change to make. Shaw will make St. Jago run much faster but we will always be in front as we also have a big change to make,” said Dyke. He is hoping to include either Aaliyah Hopkins who was on the winning team last year or the vastly improved Khomoy Farquharson.
The 122nd staging of the prestigious Penn Relays will be held in Franklinfield, Philadelphia April 28-30.
