St.Kitts – Woman pleads guilty to manslaughter of boyfriend
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – JACQUELINE GUMBS, the woman accused of murdering Lindsay Williams of Parray’s Village, appeared before the Basseterre High Court of Justice today (Mar. 23) and pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of manslaughter.
Williams, who was an employee of Jaro Electronics, was discovered stabbed to death in one of the bedrooms of his home on January 27, 2013.
Investigations made by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force led to Gumbs’ arrest, and it was said that she was the girlfriend of the deceased.
After appearing before Her Ladyship Justice Marlene Carter today, the prosecution team requested and was granted leave from the Court to have the indictment amended to include a secondary charge of manslaughter.
Having had the two-count indictment read to her, Gumbs submitted a not guilty plea on the murder charge and told the Court she was guilty of manslaughter.
Justice Carter ordered that a social inquiry report be compiled and presented to the Court and Gumbs is to return on May 23, when it is expected that she would be sentenced.
