Bolt, Fraser Pryce nominated for Laureus Sports Man and Woman of the year Awards
Jamaican sprint sensations Usain Bolt and Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce are once again being considered for top sports honours.
This time they are both nominated for the Laureus Sports Man and Woman of the Year Awards.
In a post on Facebook, Fraser Pryce expressed appreciation at being nominated for the prestigious award.
“SFP appreciates the nomination by The Laureus Academy, they say the third time is a charm. The Laureus World Sports Awards is held annually, celebrating the most remarkable men and women from the world of sports along with their achievements from the previous calendar year. Though the Awards bring a high profile focus on the very best of professional sports, it is also those at the most grassroots level that benefit too,” the post read.
Bolt will go up against basketball star Stephen Curry and tennis player Novak Djokovic, and others while Fraser Pryce will go up against tennis superstar Serena Williams and Ethiopia’s Genzebe Dibaba.
Proceeds from the Awards aid in the work of The Laureus Sport for Good Foundation. The foundation helped to improve the lives of more than one and a half million young people through the use of sports.
This year’s awards is slated to take place in Berlin on April 18.
